Laboratory of Knowledge & Intelligent Computing (KICL)
Since 2006, the Laboratory of Knowledge & Intelligent Computing (KIC-Lab) is an active Laboratory of the Department of Computer Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus in Arta. It’s main research areas and expertise include knowledge and intelligent techniques, advanced software development techniques, computational intelligence and soft computing techniques, advanced signal processing, Intelligent Information Systems, Geo-Informatics – Environmental Informatics, Personnel and task scheduling. Over the years, the KIC-Lab has actively participated in projects co-funded by programmes such as FP7 Marie-Curie, Erasmus +, INTERREG, South East Europe, IPA Adriatic, Greece-Italy 2007-2014, Greece-Czech Republic, Lifelong Learning. In the framework of these projects, KIC-Lab developed activities related to: Research and Innovation; Smart Specialization; Design & Development of Advanced Information Systems; Design & Development of Decision Support Systems (DSS); Technology Transfer, Competitiveness of SMEs & Enterprises; Further Education, Training and Consultation; Geo-Informatics & Environment (including GIS & WebGIS development); Design & Development of IT Applications promoting cultural/touristic content. As a highly innovative research laboratory, KIC-Lab has developed numerous collaborations with academic institutes, research centres, technological institutions, public and private bodies and organisations and industries in Greece, Europe, Russia, China, USA and Canada.
